The Canada Pension Plan is a contributory pension. Employees outside Quebec pay 5.95% in 2026 on pensionable earnings between the $3,500 basic exemption and the year’s maximum pensionable earnings of $74,600. The employee maximum is $4,230.45. The employer pays the same amount. This site estimates only the employee share.

The 5.95% includes a base portion, which is a tax credit, and a first additional portion, which is deducted in the taxable-income estimate. Quebec workers pay the QPP instead. See also CPP2 and YMPE.

Figures are the 2026 CRA employee amounts. The calculator does not estimate the pension you will eventually receive.
